Bonnie Somerville

In the fall of 1999, Bonnie Somerville made her television debut as a series regular in Grosse Pointe.

The Brooklyn, N.Y. native has had a passion for performing from a young age, singing and acting in school and community theater productions. After attending Boston College, she moved to New York where she studied at the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute. It was there that she developed a following as a lead vocalist in a local rock band, performing all over the New York area.

Excited about the success she was having in New York, Somerville decided to head out West to try her luck in Los Angeles. While busy pursuing her singing career, she also won the first two acting auditions she went on guest-starring roles on Beverly Hills, 90210 and Two Guys and a Girl. Then, in the summer of 1999, she landed the lead role in the miniseries Shake, Rattle and Roll: An American Love Story, which was an ideal showcase for both her singing and acting talents.

Somerville has also been busy in feature films, working with Steven Weber and Swoosie Kurtz in the independent black comedy Sleep Easy, Hutch Rimes, and with Brendan Fraser and Elizabeth Hurley in Harold Ramis' upcoming romantic comedy Bedazzled, scheduled for an October 2000 release. She can also be seen opposite Ellen Barkin, Monica Keena and Jeffrey Wright in the independent film Crime and Punishment in Suburbia, which debuted last winter at Sundance.

When she's not busy working, Somerville enjoys singing in local clubs, playing volleyball and snow skiing. She currently lives in Los Angeles, Calif
